Praise for the 1-Series
Motorweek, sponsored by Cars.com declared the BMW 1 Series the “Best Convertible” in February 2009. Here’s what they have to say, “For open-air exhilaration, our choice for best convertible is the BMW 1-Series Convertible. While BMW’s smallest series, its big personality includes all the prowess, safety, and innovation BMW is known for. We welcomed its no-nonsense, power soft-top with a glass backlight, that can be raised or lowered in 22 seconds–even while moving. Wind buffeting is virtually non-existent. Power comes from the same 6-cylinder engines found in the 3-Series, while the car’s rigid platform offers a very nimble drive. It’s the perfect car for sun worshippers and driving enthusiasts alike.”
On a personal note, one of the first BMWs I ever drove was a 128i convertible. It was a hot summer day in Portland and so I put the top down and let my hair fly. Never have I experienced such thrilling power in such a classy, compact car. Every wish I had was its command. I felt as if there were no limits. I was cool and comfortable because of the excellent air conditioner despite the warmth of the day. This car is just fun!
